Thomas Zagorski

Founder, Process Engineer and Independent Technical Advisor

I help investors, developers and industrial operators assess technical choices, challenge critical assumptions and improve the performance of complex process installations. My work combines independent technical judgement with hands-on process engineering – from pre-investment assessment to troubleshooting and optimisation of operating systems.

Engineering background

Since 2001, I have worked across research and development, industrial consulting and applied process engineering, contributing to projects from concept and feasibility through implementation, operation and performance improvement. I founded Waste & Energy Process Solutions (WEProS) in 2019. As the scope of my work expanded beyond waste and energy into broader industrial process systems, the business evolved into Wepros Services.

My project background includes power generation, industrial energy systems, waste processing, recycling, alternative fuels and energy recovery from waste. These applications have developed my understanding of thermodynamics, combustion, heat recovery, process integration and the interaction between equipment and operating conditions.

I apply this knowledge to questions of capacity, material conversion, energy use and operational constraints. The analysis starts with how the process works, the evidence available and the decision the client needs to make.

Independent assessment before investment

A central part of my work is assessing whether the technical assumptions behind an investment or major modification are credible. I examine process interactions, operating requirements and system limitations before they become embedded in equipment choices or investment commitments.

The aim is to make the technical basis of the decision clear: what is supported, what remains uncertain and what needs to be investigated further.

Improving the performance of existing installations

I also support debottlenecking, process and energy optimisation, and the development of mass balances, energy balances and performance indicators. These tools help identify the causes of deviations, compare improvement options and assess whether changes have delivered the intended effect.

Independence and collaboration

I operate independently of equipment suppliers, project contractors and capital groups. Where appropriate, I collaborate with specialist partners in simulation, process modelling, software development and optimisation algorithms, while retaining responsibility for my technical judgement.

My professional network across the Netherlands, Germany and Poland supports collaboration between engineering specialists, industrial teams and project stakeholders.

I hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Technology with a technical background in Industrial Process Automation. This combination informs my approach to both the physical process and the information needed to understand and improve it.
